today i have removed the rear window mirror film and ordered a set of glow plugs of ebay. 18.50 all in, result.

Dismantled wiper stalk and gave it a good clean in the hope of making the intermitant wipe function work again.

Failed.

Took the cb aerial off to get into Waitrose's car park.

I just went out to get some diesel as the Missus used it last and she told me it was showing the empty fuel light...

I drove to my nearest garage and it was coned off....

So proceeded to the next at Morrisons about four miles away ...

I was about 100 yards and I got a "blip" and the I turned off the main road into the forecourt I was just swinging onto a pump and it died ...whoosh lost he power steering ...

Managed to coast near enough to a pump to stick the diesel in !


Phew. I realised afterwards that I didn't have my mobile phone with me either - I was in the middle of nowhere for a long part of the journey on a dual carriageway with no houses for miles..

Blooming lucky or what ?

i fixed an annoying problem with the disco....it wasnt charging right and thought my alti was on its way.....

a quick chat to our resident landy know it all ( nick4x4 ) and i was outside looking it over,......

dodgy earth connection......

if it works on normal modes then i would say the intermittent wiper not working isn't connected to the wipers or the motor, its in the little electronic timer wotsit.

As in 'the clever bit hidden inside'? I thought so too.... I took the wotsit off from around the steering wheel, cleaned all the thingy-mu-jigs, took the stalk itself apart, cleaned all the doo-das out... guess Il be checking 'Obay' every hour for a second hand set that work

Additional job done: fitted fire extinguisher beside drivers seat

Tomorrows jobs: refit window electrics, stick on stickers, wash

checked the fluids, topped the bottles up and moaned at the wife 'cause it looks like someones been flytipping inside the car. she's out with the hoover now
