You'd think someone would invent something that was switchable wouldn't you..like some sort of giant telescopic oil filled damper that you can switch 'off' to make it solid for on-road use, and then switched 'on' to allow the 'damper to freely extend/contract in and out for off-road use........I''m sure it could be done using a similar system to Mitsi's adjustable damper settings...some sort of valve solenoid system..?

Or has someone already done this?

Not just longer bolts with holes and pins Dave.
If you look carefully at the first pic, there is a sleeve on the out side of the bolt acting as a long spacer.
the pins go through this sleeve to keep them in place. Drilling holes in the bolts would make them weak.

Dave I took mine off the Paj some time ago, hardly noticed any difference on road at all, just take it off, you can always put it back again!
