Anyone know whats going on here?
When I start my L300 the BATTERY, FUEL FILTER, and A/T TEMP warning lights stay on.
After driving for about 3 miles they go OFF (as one).
Then they will come on flickering in and out intermediately (as one).
The truck runs fine, no water in the fuel filter, battery is charging and all electrics work and I'm guessing that as the transmission is cold at start up its running ok and O/D is fine too.
Am I looking at a short somewhere in the circuit? and if so has anyone ever had a similar problem and can point me to the usual ware and tear places.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Normal sign of an alternator about to go west. Its a built in warning for a faulty alternator.
May be worth taking it off and get it checked at an auto electrical shop. They should be able to rebuild it for much less than the cost of a recon one.

Normally I'd agree but the alternator is charging OK and was only rebuilt a few months ago.
I have had info that it may be the rectifier plate but the lights are now operating normally and if they go again I will check it out. Personally and with my limited knowledge of vehicle electrics I think its grounding somewhere causing a short.
Thanks for the tips and I'll keep my eye on it for now.
and my fingers crossed

Hi Guys,
Well I took the alternator off and found that the bearings had gone, all replaced and re-fitted to truck,
NO MORE FLASHING LIGHTS!!!!
I think the flashing was caused by the irregular/uncentred running of the shaft loosing contact with the brushes.
Oh well all fixed and operational again just in time for the biggest Jap car show in Europe :D

No bill at all actually :D
Work was all done under warranty as I'd had it refurbed there only 4 months ago.
All it has cost me is some inconvenience and a few quid in petrol running about to pick it up.
However, while I was running around I managed to pick up an exhaust for an L300 and sold it on, with the little bit extra the guy gave me for my trouble I'm actually a few quid up on the whole affair
Now that doesn't happen to me very often!
