take your pajero to your nearest dealer and ask for a recall check to be done you will need the chasis number of the car and reg

ask them inparticular to check the pitman arm recall {arm breaks causing loss of steering }

and the brake pipe recall {brake pipe fails causing loss of brakes }

also check bottom pully bolt recall { bolt works lose causing engine damage } mainly 2.5 d i belive

your mitsubishi dealer should check and supply the relavant detials of these and other recalls and if affected carry out recall work free of charge the dealers should be able to tell you almost straight away if your vehcle is affected if they dont then visit anouther mitsi dealer for a second opinion

i know its a late reply but,
i'm sure the brake hose and bottom pulley bolt recalls are only for the V6 models.

pitman arm was universal, most vehicles affected from about 1994 ish i think

and the cold start device was a very limited recall,(less than 700 vehicles affected) only on the uk models i believe (shogun rather than pajero)

also there was a recall for the spacegear ( probably including delica L400) for a damper on the rear axle, the rubber comes loose and drops off (doesn't affect the running of the vehicle but may produce some undesireable shaking from the rear at speed)

The pitman arm failed on my 97/98 Pajero whilst my wife was driving driving luckily only at a slow speed. The Mitsubishi main dealer in North London charged me for the repair. I then found out it was a recall and informed the garage who denied any knowledge of the recall, finally they refunded my money! So in conclusion don't rely on the dealership to pick up on recalls.

Sounds like you have a 2.5 mate.

Some aftermarket bolts are a little too long and bottom out in the hole. Cut about 3mm off the end and use some locktite when it goes back in and this should solve the problem.
