hi all
well we all know that the pump seal fails on the 2.8 but how many know why?
well after talking to the Bosch guy i found out why they go wrong.
the bush in the input shaft wears which is a big job and that most guys that just replace the seals are only doing half the job and it will fail again if thay do not check the play in the bush!!!!

also i have found something else that also can be a problem.
and that is a hole in the main inlet fuel line.

this is what i found

as you can see it's a big hole for a fuel line and this is how you can repair it.

after cleaning it you need to heat it up before fixing

after that you need to tin it, this is just soldering it round the edge

it should look like this after tining

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f114/strefan/4x4/paj%20fuel/pump4.jpg
as you can see the solder is right round the hole

next step is to fill the hole

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f114/strefan/4x4/paj%20fuel/pump5.jpg

after that clean it up and the job is done

NB. check to make sure you have not filled the pipe with solder

Hmmm....try asking him why you can run a Shogun for 150k miles & never have a problem, but a Pajero conks out at 50k miles??

See if he can give you the 'real' reason!\\:D/

Yeah the seal goes hard and the bush wears there for the shaft moves and the seal no longer can follow the shaft movement, think about it
