Hi All

Got to change the front wheel bearings tomorrow on my '91 Shogun. The book says I need a special tool to undo the lock nut but the wheel bearing supplier tells me that this is not so.

Would hate to get everything to bits and not be able to complete the job so any past experiences would be useful!

yOU CAN DO IT WITHOUT THE TOOL, JUST USE 2 PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVERS IN THE BEaring locking ring and do the up real tight, so that the wheel won't move, then slacken off and retighten again, but so that the wheel moves this time.

Sorry about the caps but Sue left caps lock on again!!! [smilie=smack.gif]

As mule says two screwdrivers with a bar between them to rotate the ring.\\:D/

Yup thanks for the advice guys. 2 wheel bearings later, replaced idler arm, replaced all four gaiters, replaced bottom ball joint, replaced ARB bushes... failed because I forgot to replace a split pin! Doh!

....replaced all four gaiters....

I must pay more attention to what I'm reading, thought for a minute you'd replaced all four goitres!
