hello guys
I am a lada niva owner, been driving it for 4 years now, on and off road, I done some nice work on it [code]http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/3706/13012008085wo2.th.jpg (http://img371.imageshack.us/my.php?image=13012008085wo2.jpg)
until recently, I had an accident that's gonna require me to redo all the work.
so I was wondering if pajeros 3doors are as good as Lada nivas off road, plus some infos about its differential (does it have center difflock) and rear lockers. cause am really thinking of buying one (pajero 3 doors) with manual gears.
thanks for the reply guys

Like the white sand mate very cool
The Niva is a very capable off roader, as you have found out.
The SWB Paj's are just as good and do come with a centre diff lock, rear air lockers are available for them but are fairly expensive I think.
If you have the choice go for the 2,8 engine. Its far better than the 2.5 as it uses timing chains rather than belts, which are prone to breaking and destroying the top end of the motor. They are faster too.
Dont listen to the Lawn rover guys as they are biased
Oh and welcome to the club too.

thanks man for the reply, the pajero that you talked about, is what year made?

The first 2.8's came out the end of 1993/94 and ran to about 2000. The body shape changed in between but the engine basically stayed the same.
Not sure when the 2.5 was discontinued though.
The 2.8 has the airscoop on the bonnet for the intercooler where the 2.5 does'nt.

can you post a picture pls Iceman, because when searching the net I came a across lots of names of the pajero, like shogun, pajero, pinin, montero (describing as pajero montero) so I didn't know what to look, in anyway I guess it's the model that I like, but just to make sure

I'll try and find some for you.
The Shogun is the UK version of the Paj. The Montero is the Northern USA version and the pinin is something slightly different. I think it only has a 1.1 litre engine, but may be wrong.

but basically we're talking of the same car, except for the pinin right, and is there any difference between these?

This is a MK2 2.5 Paj
2.5 SWB Paj (http://www.4x4offroads.com/image-files/1993-mitsubishi-pajero-mvc-004s.jpg)

yes that's the model that I like the most
Iceman

Forget the pinin. The Pajero that we import here in the UK is a much better equipped car than the official Shogun, it has more toys so to speak. The Montero is the same but only available in the petrol model in the States.
The biggest downfall with the Paj is lack of ground clearance and tends to get stuck in ruts because of this. Also axle articulation is not all that great as it uses a torsion bar setup on the front.

Iceman

yes that's the model that I like the most
But as Chris Tarrant would say. You dont want that one, you want the 2.8  Looks exactly the same but with an airscoop on the bonnet.

You can also get them in the 3.0 and 3.5 liter V6 petrol versions, body is the same and fuel consumption about the same, both DOHC models

doesn't matter if it's the same look or maybe it's better as said before so I don't mind
is there 3.0 of it ? with manual gears?
Iceman
20-09-2008, 08:15 PM
Most tend to be auto trans but manuals are aaround although not as common, well not here in the UK anyway. If you go for the petrol i would go for the 3.5, its a more refined engine.

Nice, now these car are what year model? the 3.0 dohc or the 3.5
Iceman

I think they ran from the same years as in my earlier post. There was a facelift model around 1997 but think they used basically the same engine.
