Hello again.
I have taken the motor out and tested it and that works but when I put it back and try the switch the motor moves the roof an inch then sounds like something is stretching? Not sure if there is a problem with the cables in the roof mechanism or the motor is on its way out ?
Anyone else had problems like this.
Cheers

Chaps..I am having a nightmare here.
I have managed to open the roof with an allen key to half way and then it seems to jam.
Have taken the motor off and tested it and it seems to work fine,I am bidding on another one on fleabay incase mine is under powered ?
Am I going to have to drop the roof lining to have a look from underneath Hope not as that looks like a pain in the arris job as well.
Any further advise (in detail) needed asap.Haynes manual isn't much help.
Anyone live near Buckhurst Hill want to help me ?

Update:
I have taken the glass out andtried the roof without the glass in.Greased all the runner that I cn see with wd40 and then found some chain grease in a can so tried that as well.It did seem to make it a bit smoother but looking at one side the chain (or whatever you want to call it) seems to bunch up and make an upside down u shape.I think this is going to be the problem but not sure what to do now ? The motor still seems to be struggling even without the glass in it so it is either on its way out or old grease in it ?
Who knows..I have had enough and am going to put it back together as I have had the new window motor delivered and am going to have a bash at that.

Wht a day,put the roof back together and still working only about 5 inch's before it stops.
Thought I would fit the new window motor to the back nearside window guesse what....Yep the delivered the off side one which is no good for me !
So on to the rubbing noise from the front wheel, took it off cleaned it all up and no more rubbing, did see he pads need doing so will do that this week but noticed a leak from what I found out to be the front diff bold.I can't get to it and don't have a spanner big enough, and then noticed front of engine slightly to the right a 'thing' with a wire attached to the top..Mine was covered in oil and the wire was next to it broken off.Fixed the wire, haven't got a clue what it is but there is obviously oil leeking from it so maybe an oil sensor ???
I'm no mechanic so the car is going to have to be booked in this week...So much for my new set of tyres I was going to get.Now the car will have to be fixed and tax disc this week as well !
What a great day......Off for a beer

the wire is part of the oil presure switch they are easy to change and quite common to leak once the wire snapps off

Found one on 'that site' from looking at the bit in the engine
1.is it realy that easy to change, looks a b*tch to get a spanner in there
2.am I going to lose lots of oil when I take the other one off
3. is this the right thing....Cheers Mark

yep right part no you wont lose any oil other than a tiny dribble and a socket will suffice to take the part off
