new head nocky probs???????????????

ive just put a new head on my mayes paj and its nocking like a baxxxxd any ideas what it can be???????????? :?

does it run OK any smoke lack of power etc or is it just knocking on tick over is it a 2.5 or 2.8 matey

tick over is fine a little smoke ? slightly nocky when reved it turns into a constant loud knock the timing is spot on starts first turn of the key its a 2.5 td it sounds like the camshaft but i replaced the bearing caps with new ones
ive got no idea :?

check the 2 egr pipes at the rear of the rocker cover they are the same lenght and finish in the same area if these are connected the wrong way round this will give the symptoms you describe as a deep engine knock and smoke/lack of power was the tappits set up correctly or is it a deeper knock than that

there is no lack of power ! just a knocking noise it dosent sound tappety its more of a big end knock ill try the pipes to see if they work the two pipes your on about are they the black ones that sit under the inter cooler rad :?

on the 2.8 they are at the rear of the rocker cover on the drivers side if its not that then check all the diesel pipe connections and injectors etc

come to think of it my mate pulled one of the injectors apart trying to get it out of the head he says he put it back together right but i might pull it out and check it what components are in the injector????

basically a thin point nozzle and a spring i once took one apart and it flew apart as they are under a lot of pressure best to take the injector to a diesel place and get them to check it out the knock you can here is probably diesel knock from what you have just said it will be from over fuelling that's what i would go with as your mate has taken the injector apart
